Gun thefts rise as owners' addresses given on websites

CRIMINAL gangs could be using the internet to track down gun owners and break into their homes to steal weapons.

A Sunday Sun investigation has revealed that the names, home addresses and phone numbers of gun owners are widely available on a number of websites.

And, during the last two years, the number of firearms which have been stolen by criminals has almost doubled.

The figures have led one top policing expert to claim people with firearm licences could be at risk of being burgled for their weapons.

During the last four years, more than 100 rifles, shotguns and handguns have gone missing in the North. And Home Office officials have no idea how many, if any, of these weapons were ever recovered.

Century International or How to lose customers.

Century International or How to lose customers.

September 18th, 2008

One of the joys we have a gun owners in the USA is the ability to customize our weapons to improve on the original design & performance. The internet is full with aftermarket parts at great prices and variety and both the manufacturer and the client share in the benefit. Of course, there are those companies that are bent on screwing their good names with lousy customer service. One of those is Century International Arms, Inc who seems incapable of doing things right.

Century Rams are the importers/assemblers of the WASR 10, a semi-automatic Romanian variant of the AK 47 and the most inexpensive of the AKs in the market out there. The WASR 10 developed a reputation...

Phoenix officer shoots man who confronted burglar

PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix police say one of their officers shot and wounded a man who had been holding a burglar at gunpoint inside his home.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson says the incident late Wednesday happened as officers responded to a flurry of calls in an east Phoenix neighborhood, about shots fired, a wounded man who acted strangely after being let into a good Samaritan's home and finally, a break-in at a nearby home.

Arriving officers found a screaming woman who had fled the last home with two children while her mate confronted the intruder.

Thompson says officers went inside, ordered everyone out and saw the armed resident coming down a hallway. One officer shot the 35-year-old man several times, but he's expected to survive.

Officers then detained the intruder.

YouTube bans some weapons footage

YouTube is to ban footage showing weapons being used to intimidate people on its website in the UK.

The new policy was being introduced because of "particular concern" in Britain over the subject, the site's owners, Google, said.

MPs criticised video-sharing websites, including YouTube, in July, saying they should be doing more to vet content.

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith welcomed the YouTube ban and called on other internet sites to follow suit.

YouTube said the introduction of the new rule on weapons and intimidation would be the first time the site had made a policy change targeted specifically at the UK.

What kind of reviews are you interestred in ??

We head out once in a while to test our gear, and we take pictures and stuff.. and I would be curious to hear what kind of reviews, pics, testing, etc people would like to see us do to our gear

We typically weigh it and use it, but I bet there could be other tests we could do too

What would you like to see?

Sarah Palin Rifle Training

Q: What do you hunt with a rifle, and what do you hunt with a shotgun?

Q: What do you hunt with a rifle, and what do you hunt with a shotgun?

A:
I think you'll remember most of the answers you'll get from movies ...

Shotguns usually shoot a lot of tiny pellets / BBs
These little pellets spread out to about the size of a basket ball (much bigger than a single bullet)
When the pellets spread out, they also loose force, so they don't carry as much 'punch' anymore

So shotguns typically are used with smaller critters (birds, rabbits, squirrels, etc) and since these small critters are always running around the large / growing pattern of shot from a shotgun offers a larger area to make a shot on a small moving critter

This is why we 'practice' hunting with a shotgun on a trap or skeet range

When you eat something shot with a shotgun you get to pick the shot out of the meat (good reason to use steel shot, not lead)

Sometimes.. (exception to this rule) we shoot a slug with a shotgun
This is usually back east where the shorter range of a shotgun is good (I guess) They hunt deer, bear (and wild pig) with shotguns / slugs back east
There is also 'buckshot' which is just a few med size pellets used to hunt big critters. The pellets are shot out in a pattern and offer a lot more punch but there are fewer so the skill of shooter / quality of gun are important

We also use shotguns to hunt turkey.. yet another size shot (pellet) is used and we attempt to shoot them in the head so the meat is left untouched (lots of skill in turkey hunting IMO)

Then there is rifles.. usually (almost always) used for longer shots at distances shotguns can not reach
Rifles offer a lot of punch (power) with each shot too

sooo..

Shotgun:
Dove
Quail
Rabbit
Squirrel, etc
Turkey
Deer
Bear
Duck, Geese, etc

Rifle:

Smaller rifles:
Rabbit
Squirrel, etc

Larger rifles:
Anything bigger than pig / deer
Elk, Deer, Moose, Buffalo, Etc

Mac Gyver Quote - "What's that?"

One of the best MacGyver quotes

Season One
Episode Six
"Last Stand"

MacGyver is in a shed building a needed part for an airplane under armed guard

MacGyver picks up a piston (a big weird looking piece of metal from an engine) and walks over to the guard

The guard asks "What's that?"

MacGyver slowly answers "A lateral, cranial, impact enhancer" ... then knocks the guard in the 'side of the head' with it...
